Gene was educated in the Rockwall Independent School District and ultimately graduated from Rockwall High School, with the prestigious call of 1969. He later relocated to Dallas, Texas in 1967.
Gene met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Bircher on September 22, 1984. Together they worshiped at God's Holy Temple Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Gene and Evelyn truly understood the meaning of enjoying life. Gene loved sports, traveling, singing and especially cruises.
Gene worked tor Texas Instruments for twenty-two years and retired from the Pioneer Frozen Food in 2010 after eighteen years of service.
Those remaining to cherish his memory; his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Evelyn Bircher Gray; daughters, Pamela of Dallas, Texas, and Tonya Smith Morgan (Lamont) of Cedar Hill, Texas; son, Roderick Jackson of Desoto, Texas, three grandchildren, Jessica Morgan, Jakaria Morgan, and Denia Jackson; brother, Willie Gray, Charles Gray (Earlean) of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Fredda Kirk of Texarkana, Arkansas, Lola Turner of Dallas, Texas; mother-in-law, Annie Doris Bircher of Winona, Texas; and sister-in-law, Ella (Tina) Osby of Winona, Texas; Special nieces, Sharonda Fisher and Tracee Gulley, and a caravan of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, co workers and many friends.
