Mrs. Gracie Skaggs Milby, daughter of the late Mr. James Franklin Skaggs and Mrs. Mattie Susan Milby Skaggs, was born 12 Jun 1904 in Green Co. and departed this life on 3 May in the Jane Todd Crawford Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. She was 84 years, 10 months and 21 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She united in marriage to Mr. Oscar Milby on 24 Dec 1919 who preceded her in death on 6 Jun 1977. To this union were born 3 sons and 3 daughters: Mrs. Alene Beams of Summersville, Mrs. Marie Milby of Greensburg,
Mr. Damon Milby of Summersville, and Mr. Brooks Milby of Summersville. She was preceded in death by Mr. Russell Milby on 11 Jan 1987 and Mrs. Edna Stephens on 1 Mar 1981. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; Her step-mother: Mrs. Clevie Skaggs of Greensburg; 4 half-brothers: Mr. Billy Skaggs of Louisville, Mr. Don Skaggs of Louisville, and Mr. Kennith Skaggs of Greensburg, and Mr. Gene Skaggs of Summersville; 1 half-sister: Mrs. Margie Scott of Louisville and a host of other relatives and friends survive. The funeral services for Mrs. Gracie Skaggs Milby were conducted at 2 pm Fri. 5 May at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Wilson Cem. Rev. Bobby Flatt, Rev. Tom Coffey, and Rev. Randall Gray officiated. Active pallbearers were Willie Milby, David Ray Milby, Steve Milby, Charles Bragg, Charles Keith Stevens and Randall Joe Milby. Honorary pallbearers were Elbert Shirley, Tommy Rogers, Steven Milby, John David Milby, Rusty Milby, Doyle Berry, Sammy Lobb, Charles Ray Stevens, Dennis Milby, Jr., Chucky Bragg, Adam Ray Milby, Tommy Watkins and Lynn Milby.
