McWHORTER, Gary L. 61, of Springfield died Thursday June 25, 2009 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on January 5, 1948, the son of Ivan C. and Betty L. (Delong) McWhorter. Gary was a 1966 graduate of Northeastern High School. Gary retired as a Supervisor with Clark County MRDD with over 25 years of service. Prior to Clark County MRDD, Gary had worked for R & M for several years. He attended Grace Missionary Baptist Church and was known for his love of animals, especially his Jack Russell Terriers JR and Trixie. He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan, brother Larry McWhorter and his grandparents. Gary has left to cherish his memory his mother, Betty, one son Gerad D. McWhorter and one daughter Michelle Lattimore all of Springfield, one sister Iva Nell "Sam" Merritt of Hicksville, two nieces Deborah Kay Turk of Hicksville and Vicky Lynn Bills of Commerce, MI, one remaining aunt, Rosemary Estep and numerous cousins.
