Billie (Bill) Eugene Powell 85, of Tarkington Prairie went to be with the Lord peacefully, with family at his bedside on September 7, 2013. Bill was self-employed in the ship repair business for 20 years and was owner and operator of Poangra and Channel Marie Electric in Channelview Texas before his retirement. He was a Mason for 50 years. Bill was a Merchant Seaman in the US Coast Guard for 17 years and a faithful member of Rural Shade Baptist Church in Tarkington.

Bill was born on December 10, 1927 in Troup Texas to Frank Powell and Ammie Marie Powell Larson. He was preceded in death by parents; his first wife Melba C. Powell; daughter Beverly Hargrave; sons Arthur Andrews and Bill Andrews; and brother David Doyle Powell.

Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years: Barbara E. Powell; daughters: Sylvia Thompson and husband Cecil of Cherryville, MO, Linda Kilgore and husband Gene of Crosby, TX, Sharon Muro and husband Philip of Humble, TX, Judy Stetson and husband Buddy of Crosby, TX, Pam McRae and husband James of Cleveland, TX; son-in-law: Mike Hargrave of Crosby, TX; fourteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

A celebration of Bill Powell's life will be held at Pace Stancil Chapel in Cleveland, Texas on September 11, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive visitors an hour before the service for viewing. Interment will be at Ryan Cemetery immediately following the service.

In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
