Model, Author. The child of a significant painter and the niece of an even more noted one, she is remembered for the countless images of her created by the Impressionists. Born to painter Berthe Morisot and Edouard Manet's brother Eugene, she was raised within the Parisian artistic milieu and while still a toddler began showing up in works by her mother, uncle, and others including Pierre Renoir. Orphaned at 16, she went to live with her cousins and was financially supported by Renoir. As a teenager Julie kept a diary which gave insights into the private lives of Degas, Claude Monet, Renoir, and others while providing the artistic community's views of such events of the day as the Dreyfus Affair and which was published as "Growing Up With the Impressionists". In 1900 Julie married painter Ernest Rouart and was to live out her long life in the city of her birth; today she can be seen in numerous major galleries.
