Gordon Hintze MacKay passed away April 18, 2003 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born December 29, 1916 in Salt Lake City to Harold M. Mackay and Ruth Hintze Mackay. He married Betty Ruth Evans on May 12, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and was married 57 years before her passing on September 17, 1998. He graduated from Granite High School where he excelled in basketball. He attended the University of Utah. He was a veteran of World War II in which he served his country with pride. He worked for the Union Pacific railroad for nearly forty years and was local General Chairman upon his retirement. He was an exceptionally wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, a man with a generous and kind heart. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Survived by sons Craig E. (Becky), Bruce E., daughter Patricia M. (Collier) Reid, six grandchildren, Jared MacKay, Camille (Ryan) Lund, Mackay, Brodie, Dallas, Mitchell Reid, one great grandson; sisters Virginia Maxfield, Evelyn Frandsen. Preceded in death by parents, wife Betty, brothers Harold and Everett, sister Donna.
