                                   Freda Cole

     Freda Ann Gallaher Cole, 80, of Beckley,
went home to be with her Lord and Savior
on Sunday, July 24th, 2011 at her residence
following a long illness. II Timothy 4:7-8 "I
have fought the good fight. I have finished
my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth
there is laid up for me a crown of righteous-
ness which the Lord, the righteous judge,
shall give me at that day; and not to me only,
but unto all them also that love his appear-
ing."
     Born April 2, 1931 at Montgomery, W. Va.,
she was the daughter of the late Roy William
and Orpha Bowers Gallaher.
     In addition to her parents, Freda was pre-
ceded in death by her husband, Robert
Lloyd Cole; two sisters, Pauline King and Mar-
tha Halsey; two brothers, Paul Ray and William
Roy Gallaher.
     Those left to cherish her memory include
three sons, Dana William Cole and his wife,
Margaret of Beckley, Robert Lloyd Cole of
Beckley, Gary Wayne Cole and his wife, Kim-
berly of Green Sulphur Springs; three daugh-
ters, Mary Katherine Williams and her hus-
band Michael of Shady Spring, Ruth Elaine
Cole of Beckley and Brenda Ann Duesing of
Properity: two sisters, Virginia Simmerman
and Mildred Gallaher both of Beckley; six
grandchildren, Robert Williams and his wife
Brittany of Beckley, Mark Anthony Cole of
Prosperity, Timothy Matthew Roebuck of
Prosperity, Mary Dawn Roebuck of Proper-
ity, Mary Dawn Roebuck of Properity, Gary
Chase Cole of Green Sulphur Springs and
Baby Boy Cole due in October; several nieces
and nephews.
     Freda was a homemaker, she loved to bake
and cook. She was a pull commissioner at
Precinct 40 for 40 years. A member of the
Open Bible Baptist Church, she was active
in the choir, Sunday school, where she was a
youth teacher and Mission Fund Secretary.
     Services will be on Thursday, July 28th, at
3 p.m. at the Open Bible Church on Hedrick
Street. Pastors Rodney Allen and Nicholas
Randolph will be officiating. Burial will follow
in the Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.
     Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 9
p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel and one
hour prior to the service on Thursday at the
church.
     Pallbearers will be Robert Williams, Timothy
Roebuck, Keith, Gregg, and Steve Simmerman
and Alva Hatcher. Honorary pallbearer will be
Mark Anthony Cole.
     A special thanks to the Hospice Staff for their
kindness, caring, and dedication. Also thanks
to the Raleigh Regional Cancer Center Staff.
     At the end of the day when we her family re-
member our precious Mother we recall a woman
who loved her children, and grandchildren.
They were her life.
