Sally Jane Ames Gorman, 46, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away suddenly on
Sunday, October 28, 2012. Sally was born on February 19, 1966 in Cedar Rapids and was baptized and confirmed into the Christian Faith at First Lutheran Church. She graduated from Marion High School in 1985 where she was active in band and creative poetry writing. Sally attended Kirkwood Community College where she studied to be a home health care aide. On June 25, 1994, she was united in marriage to Henry J. Gorman.

Sally is survived by her husband Henry, her step children Melina, Ellen and Jeffrey, her mother-in-law Viola, sisters-in-law Joan and Linda (Ray), her brother-in-law John (Bev), her adoptive parents Alton and Mary Jane Ames, her niece Amanda Hamilton Fennern (Ryan), her nephew Alex Hamilton and two great nephews Joedan and Jaxton Fennern. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her cat Lacey and her two beloved basset hounds Angel and Ema-Ema and with whom she enjoyed immense pleasure as they were her world.

Sally was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Allen Ames, her sister Anne Christine Ames Hamilton, her brother-in-law Daniel Joseph Hamilton and their infant triplet children: Jason Daniel, Ralph Thomas and Sarah Jane Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by her other beloved basset hounds: Casey, Jessie, Samantha and Baelea.

Sally will be remembered for her big and loving heart, her always willingness and readiness to help other people, her caring for the less fortunate, spending time with her family and friends, listening to music, writing her poetry, dining out at her favorite restaurants and forever for her kind words. captivating smile and humor.

Rest in peace to our unique, loving, purple-wearing Sally.

Visitation will be from 4 – 7pm on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 P.M. on Saturday, November 3rd in the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories
