TUNNELTON, W.Va. - Douglas E. Milburn, 45, of Tunnelton, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Born July 3, 1960, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Kenneth "Buck" and Frances "City" Milburn Hart of Fairplay, Md.

He was a 1978 graduate of Boonsboro High School. He retired as owner of Mountaineer Communications in January 2006. He retired in 1988 as an NCO Staff Sergeant after serving 10 years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of American Legion Post 74 of Charles Town, W.Va., National Rifle Association and Preston County (W.Va.) Farm Bureau. He was a member of Delta Force and attended Ranger School.

In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lori A. Kershner Milburn; two sons, Tyson Shaffer and wife, Tomie Jean, of Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and Clifton Terrett of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Chelsea Milburn of Mount Airy, Md., and Sadye Milburn and Brieanne Milburn, both of Clear Spring; three sisters, Jackie Stotler of Williamsport, Md., Amy Frye of Fairplay, and Christi Branch of Hagerstown; three brothers, Butch Milburn of Sharpsburg, Md., Roscoe Martin of Rohrersville, Md., and Joseph Martin of Sharpsburg; and two grandsons, Jacob Shaffer and Gordon Shaffer, both of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 27, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, with Pastor Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Military honors will be provided by AMVETS Post 10 of Hagerstown.
