Justin "Juddy Bud" Ronald Brand

It's with great personal sadness that we announce the passing of our loving "Juddy Bud," who entered eternal life on October 30, 2012. He was our son and brother, who brought so much joy to our lives through his love, loyalty, kindness and caring. Along with his wonderful sense of humor, he enjoyed giving of himself and sharing fun times with all of his family and friends. He was always warm and nonjudgmental and welcomed everyone into his life. He had the hope of having his own family someday, always longing to be loved - as he had loved.

Justin was born in Barstow on October 23, 1986, and spent all of his 26 years here in our community. He attended Crestline Elementary, Kennedy and Barstow Middle Schools, Silver Valley High and graduated from Barstow High School in 2004. His face was familiar to so many customers when employed with Foster Freeze, Taco Bell and Polo Ralph Lauren from 2002-2004. He also worked for Speeditune, Conversions Firestone and Jusgo Tyres from 2004-2005. He became a tire repairman from 2005-2009 and a mechanic from 2009-2012, for the Marine Depot Maintenance Command, Production Plant in Barstow. He was an active volunteer for the City of Barstow with Cancer Relay For Life, the Barstow Talent Show and the Community Awards Banquet 2006-2012.

His many interests included Ford Mustangs 71-73, his 89 Slammed Silverado, the music of Sublime, Deftones and Psycho Realm. You could find him at a "Short Bus" concert at CSU Long Beach to enjoy the music of Sublime, Brad Noel and Eric Wilson. Justin also played 2 musical instruments, the bass and cello during his free time (he always wanted a standup bass to play.) Other personal favorites included movies with Jack Nickolson and Robert De Niro, watching the Dodgers and Angels, taking a trip to Disneyland, and yes, watching Looney Tunes on TV. He savored the food at Rositas, Platas, Lolas, Del Taco and DiNapoli's. His memorable events included attending the 2005 Nascar Race in Fontana, and dressing-up for fun during Halloween. He loved taking his dog "Killer" for walks and just hanging out with his buddies. And during quiet times you could find him reading the "Bible" and his "daily bread devotional" and watching Joel Osteen delivering a message on TV.

Justin also admired a special person in his life - his loving Grandpa Murph. Justin is survived by many family members in Barstow including his parents, Rodney Brand Sr. and Teresa Brand; a brother, Rodney Brand Jr.; a sister, Chiffon Brand; grandparents, Ronald and Celia Kells-Murphy; and uncle, Brian Kells-Murphy; his 3 aunts from Kingman, AZ, Charlotte Johnson (Kim), Donna Cochran and Linda Wright; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Justin was preceded in death by grandparents, Justin and Violet Brand; great-grandmother, Emma Fitzgibbons-Brand; and uncle, Gerald Kells-Murphy.

A Celebration of Justin's Life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 505 East Mountain View, on Wednesday November 7, 2012. A Rosary will be said at 9 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Mountain View Memorial Park in Barstow. Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Memorial Services of Barstow. Published in the Daily Press on November 6, 2012.
