Monday afternoon Mr. A. C. Stagg, one of the pioneer citizens of Harrodsburg, passed away after a lingering illness. He was born September 7, 1828, and thus would have been 88 years old in the fall. About four years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis, but partly recovered from this and was able to go about until a year and a half ago, since which time he has been a complete invalid. He was a native of Mercer county, a member of the Baptist church, and a splendid citizen and gentleman. He was counted among the wealthiest men in this city, owning a good deal of valuable real estate and other property. He is survived by his widow to whom he had been wedded for sixty years, and one grandchild, Mrs. Frank Parks, of Danville, three children having preceded him to the grave. His funeral was held at the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by his pastor, Rev. W. H. Brengle, and the interment was in Spring Hill cemetery.
