Obituary for Evelyn Emmy Swanson

SWANSON - Evelyn Emmy passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 2, 2005 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Annie Nord, her beloved husband Gustav, her only child, Dr. Richard Swanson, and her sisters and brothers, Clifford, Hazel, Ernest, Helen, Tom, Isabelle and James. Evelyn is survived by her three grandchildren, Heidi, Eric and Jason, her daughter-in-law Stella, her cousin Peter Vensland, and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn also leaves close, dear friends who were a major source of love and support over the years. Evelyn was born near Dubuc, Saskatchewan in 1916 and moved to Regina in 1932. She married Gustav Swanson in 1944 and Gust and Ev spent almost forty-five years together until Gust�s passing on Evelyn�s 73rd birthday, February 10, 1989. Her son Richard�s sudden death in November 1996 was a major blow, but Evelyn carried on with courage and determination until her passing. Evelyn will be remembered for her strength, her many talents, her incredible cooking, her generosity and her keen intelligence. As Gust used to say �There�s only one Evelyn�. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. in Central Lutheran Church, 2625 12th Avenue, with Pastor Jeff Tank officiating. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park. Friends so wishing may make memorial donations to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation, 225 - 1874 Scarth Street, Regina S4P 4B3 or the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, S4P 2R3. Special thanks from the family to Dr. Gordie Kaban, Mr. Dan Brian, and the nursing staff of Wards 6A and 5E, Regina General Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit, Pasqua Hospital.
