Opal Lucille Carter, 98, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Scenic Manor, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Lucille Carter will be 10:30 am Thursday, November 8, 2012, at the Cottage Community Church, County Highway D-41, southwest of Iowa Falls, with Pastor Kenneth Nassen officiating. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday evening at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be directed to the family c/o her daughter: Rita Stauffer, 117 Ohio Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. Burial will be at the Cottage Cemetery, rural Iowa Falls. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Opal Lucille Archibald was born September 18, 1914, at Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Nancy [Johnson] Archibald. She attended the Centerville, Iowa Community Schools graduating with the class of 1931. On August 5, 1940, she was united in marriage to James Eugene Carter at Chillicothe, Missouri. To this union three children were born: Gary, Hugh, and Rita. Lucille was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of the Cottage Community Church, rural Iowa Falls and the Cottage Church Circle. She loved to garden and provide for her family with baked goods and home cooked meals.

Lucille Carter is survived by her children: Gary [Marleen] Carter of Yuma, Arizona, Hugh [Nancy] Carter of Britt, Iowa, Rita [Leonard] Stauffer of Iowa Falls, Iowa; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her siblings: Charles, Jim, Joe, Richard, and Sid Archibald. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joe and Nancy Archibald; her husband: James Carter; a great granddaughter: Valarie McWilliams and her siblings: Bert, Paul, and Glen Archibald.
