Ruth R. Gleim

1918 - March 26, 2018

Emigsville, Ruth Rishel Gleim died March 26, 2018, at age 99 years. She was the widow of Elmer Q. Gleim who died in 2017 at 100 years. The couple celebrated 74 years of marriage in 2016.
Ruth was the daughter of Norman E. and Mabel (Zumbrun) Rishel. A graduate of Elizabethtown College with a BS in Education, Ruth began her teaching career in a one-room school house in Lancaster County, and completed her career at Roundtown Elementary School, Central School District. She loved teaching children, and remembered each of them fondly throughout the years.
Ruth was an uncommonly optimistic person who leaves a great legacy of lessons and memories. We never heard her say a negative word about any person, place, thing, circumstance or even the weather. She was always encouraging, thoughtful, industrious and never wasteful. She lived her faith, and kept her body, mind and spirit alert and keen all 99 years. She was a member of Madison Ave. Church of the Brethren.
Mrs. Gleim is survived by a son, Robert D. Gleim (Theresa), Lahaska; and daughters, Dianne Bowders (John), York, and Robin Stahl (Joseph), Kennett Square. There are six grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Charlotte Charles, York, and Marian Saylor, Dunwoody, GA.
Funeral Services are private. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, York.
