He is buried in Grave No. 5.

He had been an employee of Aberdeenshire County Council, and a group from the Roads Department enlisted on 25 January 1940.
After service in France, they were sent to Avonmouth, Bristol, for transfer to Gibraltar.
The men were on board a troopship, the SS Mohammed Ali-El-Kebir, which left Avonmouth on 5th August 1940. The ship was torpedoed 250 miles west of Malin Head, Co. Donegal, at 20.30pm on 7 August 1940.
HMS Griffin, a destroyer, picked up survivors, until joined by other vessels.
28 were recorded as missing following the return to Greenock, Scotland.
