Mrs. Lenore Ostrander, 72, widow of Harry Fargo Ostrander, former Seattle business and civic leader, died this forenoon in a hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Ostrander was prominent in social circles, women's clubs and charitable organizations in Seattle for many years. She was born in Chicago. She came here as a girl at the turn of the century and was married in 1912.

Mrs. Ostrander served actively on the board of the Children's Orthopedic Hospital from 1922 until 1942. Since that time she has been an honorary member.

Mrs. Ostrander was a former president of the Visiting Nurse Service and served on the board for many years. She was a former president of the Sunset Club and was entertainment chairman for three years. She was a former president of the Rosemary Club. Seattle's first working girls' club, and was president of the board of directors of the Helen Bush School.

Mrs. Ostrander held the longest continuous membership at the Seattle Tennis Club. She was a member of the Seattle Symphony Orchestra board and the board of Cornish School. She was a former treasurer of the Seattle Garden Club.

Mrs. Ostrander's interests were many and varied. She had studied miniature painting in New York, and her paintings were hung in galleries in New York and Philadelphia. She was fond of sailing and traveling.

Mrs. Ostrander was known widely as a hostess at her former home at 4000 Denny-Blaine Place, one of the show places of the city, both for social and charitable affairs. She recently resided at 244 40th Av. N.

Mr. Ostrander died in 1932. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Willard Wright and Mrs. Lewis Langdon, both of Seattle, and Mrs. A. S. Ballinger, Norwalk, Conn.; a son, Wells Ostrander, and a nephew, Dr. Sydney Hawley, both of Seattle and ten grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being made at the Bonney-Watson morturary.
