Obituary in the Reedsburg Free Press on May 8, 1924 reads: “Ada E. Selden passed from this life April 29th, 1924, aged 67 years, 1 mo. and 19 days. She was the daughter of John and Frances Elizabeth Ford Selden and was born on the home farm in Westfield one mile north of Loganville where she spent her entire life. Here with her three brothers, she cared for her parents during their last years, and four years ago she helped minister to her brother George through a long illness and whose passing brought a great sorrow into her life.

Ada was an intense lover of her home and any suggestion of giving up the farm life in order to make it easier for her was met with the wish to remain on the home farm. She was of a retiring nature but her acquaintances were her friends, she loved to have them come into her home and enjoyed a visit with them as those know who have had that privilege.

Last July her health began to fail and she became unable to carry on the work of the home. January 2nd she suffered a stroke of paralysis after which she was never able to speak coherently. She was tenderly cared for by her brothers assisted by a nurse and medical attention through the many months of her illness.

The funeral was held from the home Friday afternoon, May 2nd, conducted by Rev. T. S. Beavin of the Methodist Church of Reedsburg. A service of song, “Rock of Ages”, “Abide With me” and “Nearer My God to Thee” was rendered by Mrs. W. E. Gemmill and Mrs. T. S. Beavin. Burial was at the Loganville cemetery beside loved ones gone before. Two brothers, Harrison and Willard are left in the home to mourn their loss.”
Ada Selden’s notice in the Reedsburg Free Press on May 1, 1924 reads: “Miss Ada Selden passed away at her home one mile north of Loganville Tuesday Night. The funeral will be held from the home tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 2 o’clock.”

Also “Miss Ada Selden died at home last Wednesday after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Friday from the home, Rev. Beavin of Reedsburg officiating. She leaves two brothers to mourn her loss and a host of friends.”
