Through his love of this family Dad is also survived by 15 more grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. Dad is also survived by three brothers, Nick, John (Ruth), Billy, two sisters Sadie Antosh, Pearl (Don) Hachey. Dad was born in Inglis (Shell Valley) Manitoba, where he resided on the family farm and attended school to grade 8. As a young man, Dad worked on the farm and held various jobs until his early enlistment into the army in 1943. Dad served with the 2nd division, 5th brickade, Queens Own Cameron Highlanders as a general duty gunner and then as a general duty riflemen for the rest of his service and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Dad was wounded in action, however, through his dedication to the war effort, after his recuperation he signed up for continued duty in the Japan conflict. On V.E. day Dad was in northern Holland, after a brief vacation in Scotland, he returned to Germany and then to Canada. While home in Canada V.J. day was proclaimed and Dad did not have to enter into service in Japan. He was honourable discharged from the Army in 1945. Dad returned to his life and family in Canada. In 1960, Dad married Mary Delesoy and along with her six children they resided in Roblin, Manitoba. Together they had one daughter, Margaret, born in 1962. Dad and Mom relocated to Regina, Sask. in 1964 and remained together until mom's passing in 2006. Dad entered the Wascana Rehab. Dad worked in numerous locations across North America helping to build some of the major structures used today in the production of oil. Throughout his life, Dad maintained many numerous friendships, he was loved and respected by many, he is remembered for his kindness, loyalty and charity. His sense of family values and loyalty was strong and he always encouraged that in others and he led by example. Although Dad's body eventually failed him, his mind remained sharp and he will be remembered for his quick wit and humour, for which family, friends and the staff at Wascana witnessed first hand. The family would like to thank the staff at Wascana 3-6 for the loving care, support and patience of Dad especially when he showed his fun character and as his health declined. You are all greatly appreciated. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. in the Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK.
