St. Paul Railroad Settles With Urban Dessereau (Dessureau)

In the case of Urban Dessereau (Dessureau), the defending company has agreed to pay the plaintiff the sum exceeding $12,000. Dessereau (Dessureau) was permanently injured in a head-on collision at Traders Junction October 1906, & has been receiving medical treatment ever since. Dessereau (Dessureau) was employed as a blacksmith for the mine & was injured along with several other men when a freight train collided with the passenger train employed in transporting the men to & from the Traders Iron Ore mine. The accident was probably the most costly that ever occurred on the Lake Superior division of the St. Paul railroad. There was also a heavy loss of rolling stock, 2 locomotives being totally destroyed & a number of cars smashed to splinters.(Thursday, September 16, 1909, Iron Mountain Press newspaper, Dickinson, Michigan.)
