Fullenwider, Henry TaswellDied 1940's, Alton - Henry Taswell Fullenwider, son of Robert H. and Elizabeth J. Fullenwider, was born at the home of his grandfather, Colonel Henry Fullenwider, near Alton, May 31, 1868. At the age of 21, his father deeded to him a small farm nearby which he tended and on which he later built a home. After the death of his parents, he lived alone until his sister, Mary, retired from teaching and bought a home in Alton. Since then he has helped her make a home. At an early age, Henry was converted under the preaching of the Rev Mr Wesley at Deuchars, and later united with the Baptist Church at Alton. He served as church clerk and superintendent of the Sunday School a number of years. Henry never said unkind words about persons and was always ready to help a neighbor. He was able to care for himself until the day of his death, thus realizing his wish not to be a burden to anyone. Three brothers, Charles, Peter and Clay, preceded him in death. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs Ottie Deen, Mrs Sallie Wood and Mrs Mary Spindler; six nieces and nine nephews

_________________________Re: Fullenwider cemetery in Crawford County

I believe the surname is misspelled. The Fullenwider cemetery is located about 1 1/2 miles west of Alton on an old abandoned Co. Rd.

Take Buzzard Roost road west from Alton until you come to a log cabin located about 50 yards off of the road on your left. Turn left onto the access road and follow it past the cabin and continue for about a 1/4 mile. The cemetery is located on the left side and will be obvious when you see the stone wall that contains the remains of the ordinal land owner (Colonel Henry Fullenwider and his family). The road may have soft places in it this time of the year so be cautious. If you want to walk in, stay on the main road past the cabin for about a 1/4 mile until you come to an old barn on your left. I believe you can pull off the road just before the barn and walk south about 100 yards until you come to the old county road. You will walk past the remains of the old house just before dropping down to the old road, take a left and it is just a short walk back to the cemetery. Good Luck
