Districts Oldest Resident Dead, Was in 109th year, Funeral service will be conducted on Thursday afternoon (today) at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of McGuire and Low, Uxbridge for the late Mrs. Celia Ann Baker, who passed away on Monday morning in the Brierbush Hospital, Stouffville. The deceased a most remarkable lady, would have marked her 109th birthday in September. Mrs. Baker, the former Celia Ann Dennie was born near Newmarket, one
of a family of twelve children. At age of 11 yrs. she worked out in homes in the district. For her efforts, she received $1.00 per month. For more than fifty years she resided west of Stouffville in Whitchurch Township. For the past 11 years she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Mearle Phillips in Uxbridge. She was admitted to the Brierbush only last month. A second daughter, Mrs. Sarah Forsythe resides in Toronto. Her husband Wm. Baker died 39 years ago. The attention of the press and public was directed toward her when she bypassed the century mark and each year, her birthday, celebrated in a quiet, country fashion, only added to the achievement. Not only was she bright and active until the end but she retained the use of all her faculties and took full advantage of every day she was spared. Following the service, Interment will be
made in the Heise Hill Cemetery.
