RALPH E. SHEROD

Ralph E. Sherod, son of Charley and Patsy Sherod, was born Aug. 27, 1871, and departed this life Feb. 12, 1960, at the Baker Nursing Home in Chariton at the age of 88 years, five months and 15 days.

He was united in marriage to Irene G. Teater Dec. 12, 1900. Having no children of their own, they adopted a son, Jim, when he was two weeks old.

He spent most of his life in Wayne county. In 1927 he retired from farming and moved to Corydon where he lived until about six years ago when he moved to Chariton.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Dec. 9, 1939, also by his mother, father, two sisters, Mary Alice and Susan, and one brother, Wilbur.

He leaves to mourn his passing two grandchildren, Mrs. Jean Winner of Peoria, Ill., and Ralph D. Sherod of Germany, also four great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and cousins.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 15 at the Beardsley Funeral Home. The Rev. John Bauserman officiated. Interment was in the New York cemetery.
