COBB, JoAnn
"I'm dancing again!" Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away November 16, 2005 after a courageous 3-year fight with ovarian cancer. JoAnn was born August 28, 1930 in Eaton, Colorado to Matt and Ruth Williams. JoAnn was a beautiful, vivacious woman with enormous strength and courage. She married Robert Kealy, June 24, 1948, and later divorced. They had two children. On August 25, 1967 she married Ward W. Cobb. They spent 36 wonderful years together until his death on May 18, 2003. JoAnn had her own business for 19 years, teaching self-improvement and color analysis classes along with her own line of makeup. After moving to Utah she taught line dancing at the Sandy Senior Center for six years. This summer JoAnn received the Salt Lake County Retired & Senior Volunteer Program's "Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award." She has taught at other senior centers and trained others to teach. She also is founder of the "Young at Heart
Country Line Dancers" who perform throughout the valley. Also one of her great enjoyments was bowling at the Sandy Bowl where she had many friends. JoAnn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lancaster, California where she taught Sunday School for 15 years and was an active member of the Christian Women's Club. She was also a member of the Assistant League of Lancaster and a member of Toastmaster's Club. When they moved to Utah in 1998 she and Ward joined the Southeast Baptist Church. JoAnn had so much energy, lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives. She will be greatly missed. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Kent Difiore and the staff at Utah Cancer Specialists and also everyone at 1st Choice Hospice for their loving care. JoAnn is survived by her daughter, Marsha (Brent) Michaelsen; grandchildren, Jayme (Miguel) Mejia, Justin (Lyndsey) Halloran; great-grandchildren, Noah Mejia, and Tegan Halloran. Survived also by her fiancŽ and friend, Doug Jacob, who has given so much love and support these last two years. We thank you. Preceded in death by husband; parents; son, Robert Steven Kealy and brother, Gene. Memorial services will be held November 21st, 11:00 a.m. at the Southeast Baptist Church, 1700 E. 7000 S. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to The Road Home, 210 Rio Grand St. Salt Lake City, UT 84101.
