Passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 3, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital at the age of 90.
Beloved husband of Mildred (nee Frank) for 65 years.
Son of the late Peter and Emma Hergott.
Dear father of Anita Weiler (Robert) of Kitchener, Elizabeth Rasmussen (Keith) of Bobcaygeon and John Hergott (Norma) of Kitchener.
Loving Papa to, Laurie Hayhurst (Campbell) of Kitchener, Rob Weiler (Rosie) of Kitchener, Trevor Weiler of Long Beach, California, Michael Lorentz (Mary) of Waterloo, David Lorentz (Caroline) of Peterborough, Paul Lorentz (Tina) of Waterloo, Leslie Lorentz, Sean Hergott and Juliann Hergott all of Kitchener.
Great Papa to, Andrew, Danielle, Otis, Sophie, Seanna, Joshua, Carlie, Claire and Liam.
Special uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Survived by his sister Florence Caskenette and sister in law Madeline Cullen.
Predeceased by his siblings, Wilbert, Gerard, Carl (Francis) Hergott, Marcella Beechey (John) and brother in law Jim Caskenette.
Ray served in the Canadian Military from 1939-1945. Upon completing his military service he returned to the K-W area and took up farming. During this time he also worked for the Ontario Federation of Agriculture as Field Man, eventually becoming manager.
He was deeply involved in establishing farm cooperatives and marketing boards in Ontario. Following this, Ray worked for and eventually retired from The Cooperatives Insurance Agency of Guelph.
Ray was always very involved in church and community organizations.
Funeral mass was held at St. Boniface R.C. Church, Maryhill with Fr. Ronald Voisin officiating.
Interment St. Boniface Cemetery, Maryhill.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the St Boniface Church, Maryhill or the St. Marys Hospital Foundation -Cardiac Care Unit would be appreciated by Ray's family.
