Troy McGee was a devoted father with a heart that always remained full of love. He was so full of life, something everyone around him couldn’t help but catch. Troy lived a life that was both adventurous and rooted, outgoing and contented, fun loving and considerate.

1962 was a year of great contrasts in the United States. The U.S. space program was on the rise with the first American to orbit the earth. Yet, there was great racial tension and rioting around the country, and nuclear missiles were spied just off the coast of Florida in Cuba. It was into this time of triumphs and unrest that Troy McGee was born on May 30, 1962, in Holland, Michigan. He received his education in the West Ottawa Public Schools and graduated from West Ottawa High in 1981.

Troy was a hardworking man, and his strong work ethic and dedication was demonstrated in his work at Magna Donnelly, formerly Donnelly Mirrors of Holland, for 29 years. But, Troy wasn’t all work and no play; he had many hobbies he enjoyed in his leisure time. He was a great outdoorsman and skilled hunter and fisherman. Though sometimes his sport was simply behind the lens of a camera, taking great photographs of everything he loved and enjoyed.

Of all the wonderful things in Troy’s life, spending time with his daughters, Melissa and Julie, towered above the rest. He adored his girls and they were the shining beacons in his life. Some of their most special times were spent watching and listening to thunderstorms together. Troy was a big card player, especially when it came to “family poker.”

With music in his heart, Troy loved to sing, and did so for six years as a tenor with the Living End Singers and Bond of Love Singers. But Troy always had a skip in his step and joy in his heart. He was often the “life of the party” and squeezed a lot of living out of life. Troy was dearly loved by all who knew him, and will be deeply missed.
