Mrs. Hynes, of Williamstown, Mass., perished in an automobile accident which was related to Superstorm Sandy, in Pennsylvania, while visiting her daughter.

Alice was born to Vivian Carpenter Cota and Dorothy Gordon Cota in Northfield, Mass., and later moved to Williamstown.

She led an active life and enjoyed many activities, such as spending time with her grandchildren, reading, gardening, square dancing, canning food, knitting, sewing, and baking. She volunteered her services to local public schools, scouting, and was a docent at Clark Art Museum. Mrs. Hynes was a member of First Congregational Church.

She attended Berkshire Community College after raising hr children and worked for Excelsior Printing in North Adams and W.R. Grace in Adams.

She is survived by four children, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her former husband.

A memorial service for Mrs. Hymes was held at First Congregational Church in Williamstown, Mass.
