Idella V. Holtmeier, 87 years of age, of Beatrice, Neb., passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice Friday morning, Nov. 2, 2012.

She was born Feb. 4, 1925, at the home of her parents, George and Laura Lofing, south of DeWitt, Neb. Idella moved with her family to a farm near Ellis, Neb., in March of 1925. There she attended Zion Lutheran School of Harbine, Neb. She then attended Ellis School and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1942. After graduating, she taught in rural schools four years.

On June, 2, 1946, she was married to Raymond Holtmeier in Zion Lutheran Church of Harbine. Their marriage was blessed with four sons. They farmed until 1978, when they retired to Pioneer Acres west of Beatrice. Her husband died in 1989, and in 1994, Idella moved to the Regency in Beatrice, and then moved into the nursing home in 2008. She had been a member of First Trinity Lutheran Church, west of Beatrice, since 1947. She taught Sunday school for many years and took care of First Trinity's Cradle Roll for 13 years; and was a volunteer visitor of residents at the Good Samaritan Home from 1991 to 2004. Idella enjoyed gardening, canning, flowers, bowling, playing cards, taking walks, and pulling weeds.

Idella is survived by three sons, Dr. Douglas Holtmeier and wife, Mary, of Lincoln, Dwight Holtmeier of Beatrice, and Robin Holtmeier and wife, Mary Beth, of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Nikki Dees, Amber Holtmeier, Kellie Holtmeier and Jacob Holtmeier; 2 great grandchildren, Vivienne Pieper Dees and Emerson Steele Dees; and by brother, J.D. Lofing and wife, Tammy, of Beatrice.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Laura (Hahn) Lofing; husband, Raymond Holtmeier (1989); infant son, Steven, and son, David Holtmeier; sisters, Paula Hohbein and Rozella Hohbein, and brothers, Leo, Marvin and Clarence Lofing.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the First Trinity Lutheran Church, west of Beatrice, with the Rev. Timothy Wagner officiating. Interment will be in the Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Lincoln. The body will lie in state Monday from 5 to 9 p.m., with the family greeting friends Monday from 6-7:30; Tuesday from 9 a.m.to 9 p.m., all at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice; and at the church one hour preceding the service on Wednesday.

A family prayer services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the church school. A memorial has been established to The Lutheran Hour and the American Heart Association with the church elders in charge.
