Samuel Wilson "Pumpkin" Bailey III, formerly of 2110 W. Cary Street, went home to be with the Lord and grandmother, Miss Edith M. Bailey on November 17, 2003.

He is survived by his daughter, Erica Abbott; his parents, mother, Jane P. Bailey and father, Samuel Wilson Bailey Jr.; two sisters, Simone Griffin and Brittany Jackson; two step-mothers, Montese Bailey and JoAnn Smith; two step-sisters, Angie Thomas and Monique Wilely; two aunts, Mary P. Thompson and devoted, Pearl B. Minor; one uncle, Alfred Pleasants; four great-aunts, Cattie Ray, Elizabeth Fox, Lenora Thompson and a devoted, Katherine E. Milton; three nephews, a host of cousins, among them four devoted, Stephanie Minor, Wayne Parson, Kevin Bailey Sr., and Reginald Thompson; and other relatives and friends.

Remains rested at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral service was held on Saturday at 1pm, at Fifth Baptist Church, 1415 W. Cary Street, where remains laid in state one hour prior funeral time. Dr. Earl Brown (Pastor). Rev. Queen Harris officiated. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends assembled at the church 12:45pm Saturday.
