Abigail Paine, dau. of Thomas Paine and Hannah Shaw, b. of record Nov. 10, 1689 at Eastham, Mass. [MD 4:31.] She d. July 13, 1731 at Attleboro, Mass (g.s., Æ 42.)

As recorded by her father Thomas, on Nov. 8, 1711 at Truro, Mass. [Truro VRs] Abigail m. 1) Rev. Ebenezer White, s. of James White and Sarah Baker, b. July 3 (bp July 12), 1685 at Dorchester, Mass. He d. Sept. 4, 1726 at Attleboro, Mass. (g.s., Æ 42.) They had nine children of record, the first two at Dorchester, the rest at Attleboro:

• i. Ebenezer White, Jr., b. Aug. 17 (bp. Sept. 12), 1712 at Dorchester, Mass., d. childless Feb. 3, 1747/8 at Attleboro (g.s., Æ 36); m. Sept. 19, 1734 at Attleboro, Mass., Elizabeth Tiler, dau. of Ephraim Tiler and Katherine (Bragg), b. Jan. 15, 1715/16 at Attleboro. Her identity is proved by the 1736 will of her father in which she is called "dau. Elizabeth wife of Ebenezer White," and survived her husband. On Apr. 25, 1748 an agreement was made regarding distribution of Ebenezer's real estate between the widow Elizabeth and Ebenezer's then six living siblings.

• ii. Abigail White, b. Aug. 30 (bp Sept. 5), 1714 at Dorchester, d. Apr. 2, 1756 at Norton, Mass.; m. Sept. 25, 1734 at Rehoboth, Mass. as his 1st wife, William Carpenter, s. of Obadiah Carpenter and Deliverance Preston, b. June 26, 1711 at Rehoboth. He d. Aug. 23, 1768 purportedly at Norton, Mass. Eleven children of the marriage.

• iii. Hannah White, b. Mar. 24, 1715/6 at Attleboro, Mass., d. there June 10, 1774; m. Nov. 11, 1741 at Attleboro as his 1st wife, Joseph Guild, s. of Ebenezer Guild and Abigail Daggett, b. June 22, 1716 at Attleboro. Nine children of the marriage.

• iv. Martha White, b. May 16, 1717; m. May 20, 1742 at Attleboro, John Robbins, Jr., s. John Robbins and Hannah Clark, b. Oct. 7, 1712 at Attleboro. Nine children recorded at Attleboro.

• v. Edward White, b. June 23, 1719, d. Nov. 30, 1784 at Attleboro, (g.s., Æ 66); m. June 30, 1741 at Charlestown, Mass., Mehitable Priest, who d. June 2, 1788 at Attleboro. Five children of the family.

• vi and vii. Twins Beriah and Patience White, b. June 13, 1721; Beriah d. on the day of birth, Patience the day after birth.

• viii. Experience White, b. Apr. 30, 1723; m. by an intention dated Apr 14, 1744 at Attleboro, Pentecost Blackinton (q.v.), 3rd, s. of Pentecost Blackinton, Jr. and Rebecca Figget, b. Aug. 26, 1716 at Attleboro. He d. Jan. 20, 1794 at Attleboro but no death date can be found for Experience. It is believed she d. childless.

• ix. Thankful White, b. Sept. 5, 1725; was a single woman in April 1748 when named in the agreement for distribution of her deceased elder brother Ebenezer White's real estate with his widow Elizabeth.

On May 23, 1728 of record at Attleboro, Abigail m. 2) as his 3rd wife, John French, 3rd, s. of John French, Jr. and Hannah Palmer, b. Apr. 13, 1681 at Rehoboth, Mass. He d. Nov. 16, 1735 at Attleboro (g.s., Æ 55.) Two children were born of the marriage:

• x. John French, b. Feb. 4, 1728/9 at Attleboro, d. in adolescence Dec. 25, 1740 (g.s., Æ 12) [s. of John and Abigail, NOT of John and Martha as written in the Attleboro VRs.] At less than four years of age he was named in his father's Dec. 1732 will as executor of his father's estate, but was subsequently replaced by his father's fourth wife Elizabeth as administratrix of the French estate.

• xi. Thomas French, b. Sept. 10, 1730; not named in his father's Dec. 1732 will.
