Soviet film director, screenwriter and operator. Honoured Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1954). Winner of three Stalin Prizes (1942, 1948, 1952). Member of the CPSU (b) since 1942. M. J. Slutsky was born 6 (19) July 1907 in Kiev.
