In May 1743, the Parish of Wetzikon recorded that Heinrich, Susanna, and four children: Felix, Hans Jacob, Hans Felix, and Anna Maria, "left for Carolina". The Furrer family landed in Colonial America at the Charles Town (Charleston) harbor, South Carolina. It it unknown what became of Susanna and their children thereafter.
Family tradition states that Heinrich (who changed his name to Henry Furr) moved directly from Charleston to a German settlement in Purrysburg, South Carolina. He married "Rosina" about 1751. (Although "Russena" is engraved on their memorial, her name is clearly written in Henry's will as "Rosana Furrer" - her only known documentation).
The Furrs migrated to Dutch Buffalo Creek, North Carolina, what is now in Cabarrus County.
They were the parents of 9 children: John, Paul, Jacob, Elizabeth (Smith), Tobias, Catherine (Earnhardt), Henry, Mary Magdalena (Randleman), and Adam.
