Richard Dean LaFrentz, age 88, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at his home in Michigan City,IN.

Richard was born January 25, 1924 in Marshalltown, Iowa to George and Ruby (Kepler) LaFrentz, who preceded him in death. He married Joan K. LaFrentz on September 1, 1962.

Richard is survived by his wife of fifty years: Joan LaFrentz of Michigan City; children: Steve LaFrentz of Martinsville, IN, Connie (Ed) Medina of Las Vegas, NV, Rick (Mary) LaFrentz of California, Cindy (Jeff) Tappe of Alaska and Penny (Jason) Henderson of Crown Point, IN; grandchildren: Rick (Fallon) Fuller of Fayetteville NC, Eddy Fuller of Hobart, IN, Page Lund of Iowa, and Jeff Lund of Iowa; great-grandchildren: Brook, Jason and Maylee Fuller. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Kenneth LaFrentz.

Richard worked as a real estate developer. He owned and operated Suburban Estate. Richard was co-developer of Southgate Subdivision in 1962. Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as a tailgunner on a B17. He was an avid golfer and loved to boat and travel. Richard was a lifetime member of VFW Post #2536, Skwiat Post #451, Elks and Moose #935. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services 613 Washington St. Michigan City, IN 46360.

Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor William H. Fine of St. John's United Church of Christ, Michigan City, IN officiating.
