FREDERICK CORBIN BLESSE of Melbourne, FL. He was a 30 year, retired, U.S. Air Force veteran of he Korean War and earned a Purple Heart, Distinguished Service Cross; Silver Star with two oak leaf clusters; Legion of Merit with oak leaf cluster; Distinguished Flying Cross with five oak leaf clusters; Bronze Star and more. He flew two combat tours during the Korean War, completing 67 missions in F-51s, 35 missions in F-80s and 121 missions in F-86s. During the second tour in F-86s, he was officially credited with shooting down nine MiG-15s and one La-9. At the time of his return to the U.S. in October 1952, he was America's leading jet ace and was the nation's sixth ranking jet ace. Surviving are his wife, Betty; children, Kent, Melanie Blesse Fileppo, Angelie Blesse, Chris Blesse; step-children, Bill Lynch, Eileen Husselbaugh, Dan Lynch; brother, James and sister, Joan Griffin. Funeral arrangements by the Florida Memorial Funeral Home in Rockledge, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held November 8, 2012 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Melbourne. He was buried on March 22, 2013. Published in FLORIDA TODAY on November 4, 2012.
