Roy Harold Rogers, 83, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, May 22, 2006 at his residence.
Born May 29, 1922, in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Amos and Sarah Kays Rogers.
He was a former school bus driver for the Anderson County Board of Education, a farmer and a water hauler. He was a World War II Army veteran, and a member and senior deacon of Goshen Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Lucy C. Stratton Rogers, Lawrenceburg; two daughters, Patricia (Ed) Sweasy and Sandra (Butch) Dunning, both of Harrodsburg; four sons, Jimmy (Cheryl) Rogers, Woodford County, Mick (Jan) Rogers, Roger (Carrie) Rogers, and Tim (Marsha) Rogers, all of Lawrenceburg; a daughter-in-law, Betty Rogers, Harrodsburg; 17 grandchildren, Kevin Sweasy, Candice Sweasy, Kent Rogers, Keith Rogers, Janna Rogers, Susan Young, Lynn Wells, Loren Wells, Patrick Rogers, Kelly Rogers, Josh Rogers, Kyle Rogers, Erin Rogers, Allie Rogers, Katie Rogers, Samantha Rogers and Timmy Rogers; 10 great-grandchildren, Neil Wells, Tyler Hembree, Courtney Rogers, Chloe Rogers, Tegan Rogers, Savannah Rogers, Austin Rogers, Sydney Rogers, Logan Rogers and Nathan Dowdy; three sisters, Virginia Cammack, Frankfort, Susan Perry, Dallas, and Jean Debell, Morningview; and a brother, Robert Rogers, Louisville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roy Jeffrey Rogers, a sister, Ruby Hazel Rogers, and five brothers, Earl Rogers, James Rogers, Glenn Rogers, Joel Rogers and Connie Bruce Rogers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m. at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bros. Fred Knickerbocker and Richard Debell officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lawrenceburg Cemetery
