A native of Wise County, Va., he lived most of his life in Sullivan Count. He was an employee of Ryder P.I.E. Freight Lines and a member of Masonic Lodge No. 162.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Phillips, Kingsport; one daughters, Mrs. Brenda Duncan, Blountville; one son, Terry Phillips, Ft. Branch, Ind.; his mother, Mrs. Delia Phillips, Bristol, Va.; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; two brothers, Robert Phillips, Bristol, Va., and Donnie Phillips, California; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Faulkner, Titusville, Fla.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Akard Funeral Home with a masonic memorial service at 7 p.m. by the Masonic Lodge No. 162.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
