Rebecca Watson Griffin passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012.

A mere 88 years ago, Rebecca Watson Griffin of Signal Mountain, TN, came into this world with a destiny to create a loving family and serve her passions. Being the youngest of eight children, she learned how to be a strong woman early.

It was at Elon College where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics that she met her husband of 48 years, Chaplain Colonel Johnson Linwood Griffin. They traveled the world with the U.S. Army with Rebecca supporting Johnson through numerous adventures and they settled in Columbia, SC. Along the way, they brought into this world their only child, Becky.

After Johnsons passing in 1992, Rebecca moved to the Dalton, GA,/Chattanooga, TN, area to be closer to her daughter and son in-law, Becky and Mike Leary and two granddaughters, Karrah and Brielle.

Her independence and strength as a role model paved the way for the next two generations.

Rebecca Griffin will join her husband in Arlington National Cemetery on Chaplains Hill.

Graveside services will be held at a later date. No visitation is scheduled.

As the season changes with color, the family would request in lieu of flowers, for friends to make a change in their community. You may support her passions of cooking and helping others by making a Griffin Giving. Reach out with your time or other resources to those in need around you in memory of the Griffins. If needed, more specifically in Chattanooga, TN, a contribution can be made to the Community Kitchen for the hundreds of those in need they touch everyday or to Memorial Hospital, who guided her end of life with unparalleled dignity and comfort.

Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN.
