Joseph Bradford, aged about 80 years and
one of Frankfort, Kansas pioneer citizens,
died this morning at 3:30 a.m. at the Odd
fellow’s Home, near Manhattan, Kansas,
after an illness of several months. He had
been in failing health for the past year and
entered the home a few months ago in
order to receive medical attention.

Mr. Bradford came to Marshall County with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George B. Brad-
ford, in the late1850’s and Joe resided in
and near Frankfort practically all of his life,
with the exception of a few years spent in
Nevada when he was a young man. For
many years he operated a livery stable in
Frankfort. He had been a member of the
I.O.O.F. lodge for more than thirty-five
years and was one of its oldest members.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jack
Wilbur, Marysville, Kansas and Mrs. John
Rickson, Topeka, Kansas; two sons, Walter
Bradford, New Jersey and Wallace Bradford
of Canada; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Auld,
near Frankfort, Kansas and Mrs. Martha
Mathews, Grant’s Pass, Oregon; a number
of grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, July
26, 1931 at 2:30 p.m.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas with the I.O.O.F. in
charge at graveside.
