WINSTON-SALEM — Mrs. Lucille Welch Hodges, 93, departed this life on November 2, 2012. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 6, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Winford L. Hendrix officiating. Interment will take place at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Mt. Airy at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

She was born July 20, 1919 in Surry County to the late Joseph Wright and Bertha Hiatt Welch. She grew up on the farm but moved to Mount Airy after finishing school. There she met and married her husband, Walter Haywood Hodges.

They moved to Winston-Salem in 1950. She was employed by Lucent Technologies and retired in 1978. She was an active member of Ardmore Baptist Church for more than sixty years and a volunteer at Forsyth Hospital.

She is survived by two sons, Darrell and wife Sally of Whitsett and Ronald and wife Kathie of Roswell, GA; five granchildren, Mary Beasley, Wade Hodges, Melanie Hoover, Nichole Pulliam, and Shaun Hoover; five great grandchildren, Deacon Beasley, Ada Jo Beasley, Tessa Hodges, Gavin Hoover and Emileigh Pulliam. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Lester Welch and wife Gladys; sister, Carlyne Stone and husband Roy and an infant brother.
