James Albert Murphy, son of William and
Elinor Murphy was born in Union County,
Ohio on September 15, 1870 and passed
away at his home on Wednesday, March 17,
1948 at 11:15 p.m. at the age of 77 years,
6 months and 2 days.

He came from Ohio with his parents to
Richardson County, Nebraska when he was
about ten years of age. After living there
a few years the family moved to their farm
northwest of Frankfort, Kansas where Mr.
Murphy grew to manhood and has made
Frankfort his home ever since.

He was a member of the First Methodist
Church when he was a young man. He
was united in marriage with Dora Morehead
on September 19, 1911 at Frankfort.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and
one sister. He leaves to mourn his passing,
his wife and two sons, George Murphy of
Wadsworth, Kansas and Paul Murphy, Frank-
fort, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Ada Day and
one brother, Thomas E. Murphy both of
Burrton, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.

Due to ill health, he had to give up his black-
smith business in which he had been engaged
for many years and was an expert in his line
of work. Besides blacksmith work he also
was engaged in buying old metal and shipped
out many carloads of iron when the govern-
ment urged the public to conduct scrap drives
for the war materials. He was always anxious
to do his part in any movement for the good
of his community.

Funeral services were held at the Padden
Funeral Chapel on Saturday afternoon.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
