Phineas was a Revolutionary Soldier.
Son of Tilly Parkhurst & Widow Sarah (Shepard)Stevens.

Phineas Parkhurst's family settled in Royalton, VT. He was wounded in an Indian attack on the town of Royalton, VT in 1780. Phineas rode horseback into Lebanon to warn valley residents of possible danger and to have the Indian bullet removed. He was so impressed by Dr. Ziba Hall, Lebanon's first physician, that he apprenticed himself to study medicine under the doctor and in time became a skillful and greatly admired physician. He was very successful in business as well, and became one of the town's wealthiest men, owning a hotel, a gristmill and various other kinds of property, and raising mules, then in great demand as draft animals. In the Revolution, he was at the surrender of Burgoyne; and being wounded at the burning of Royalton, VT, removed to this town. Here he resided over 60yrs.
