John E. Webel, age 79, of Wayne, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday (October 12, 2012) in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born at home March 14, 1933 at 508 W. Madison St. in Gibsonburg to the late Emil & Nita (Sage) Webel. The delivering nurse was his grandmother Lelia Sage.

He married Evelyn W. Williford on September 28, 1979.

Surviving are his loving wife of 33 years Evelyn; son, Mark (Crystal) Webel of Helena, Ohio; daughters, Wanda Webel of Lewisville, TX, Cindy Peck of Hessville, TaMara Knight of Bowling Green, Barbara (Walter) Gillmor Washington of New Orleans, LA, Eronda Bradshaw of Bowling Green; sister, Diane (Dick) McVeigh of Harlingen, TX; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura St. Clair and 2 grandchildren. John retired from Brambles high reach equipment company in Perrysburg.

He served his country proudly in the Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a member of Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner, American Antique Motorcycle Club, Moto Guzzi Motorcycle Club, American Motorcycle Association, Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg and was a 1951 Graduate of Gibsonburg High School.

He was a former member of the Fremont Eagles. John was a passionate collector of motorcycles as well as an avid collector of cars, guns, coins, bicycles and many other oddities. John was also a real family man and enjoyed spending time with family and many friends.

Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday (October 16, 2012) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday (October 17, 2012) with Pastor Melanie Haack officiating.

Burial will be in West Union Cemetery in Gibsonburg with military honors provided by the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner.

A bereavement luncheon will follow the cemetery service back at the legion hall.

Memorial donations may be made to Bridge Home Health & Hospice of Bowling Green.
