Mark Clark was born on January 15, 1845
near Bloomfield, Green county, Indiana,
and died at Decatur, Arkansas on January
2, 1918 at the age of 72 years, 11 months
and 17 days.

He enlisted in the Civil War in 1863 in
Company A, 115th Indiana Infantry, and
was discharged in 1864.

He was married to Catherine Bender on
October 15, 1874. To this union was born
two children, Emma M. Clark-Ward,
deceased, of Frankfort, Kansas and
George E. Clark, Decatur, Arkansas, and
they adopted a daughter, which they raised
to womanhood, Lizzie Clark-Morgan, of
Peterson, Iowa.

He was a member of the Protestant- Meth-
odist church, known as the old Liberty
Church near Bloomfield, Indiana, then he
later joined the Christian church at Verm-
illion, Kansas.

Besides his wife, he leaves the following,
one son, George E. Clark, adopted daughter
Lizzie Clark-Morgan, Peterson, Iowa; a
brother, James H. Clark, Pleasantville,
Indiana, and several grandchildren.

Mr. Clark’s remains were brought to
Frankfort, Kansas for funeral services on
January 3 at the First Methodist Church
with Reverend O.K. Hobson officiating.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
