Helen Jane Smith, born April 10, 1920 in Portland, Oregon to Mark Edward Huson and Beulah Marie (Wells) Huson, passed away at the age of 92 on October 15, 2012 in Kirkland, Washington. We praise God for the wonderful life she enjoyed!

From Oregon, Jane moved to Turlock, California and was raised in the San Joaquin Valley with her sister, Barbara. She met her husband, Robert C. (Bob) Smith, while attending Turlock Union High School. They were married in 1940. When World War II broke out, Bob joined the Merchant Marines and they moved to Berkeley, California. Pamela J. was born in 1942 and R. Stephen in 1944. In 1946 the Smith family moved to Bellingham, Washington where Michael Brian was born in 1947. The family moved to Kirkland in 1949 where Bob started Bel-Kirk Heating & Sheet Metal.

Jane always loved living in Kirkland where she and Bob enjoyed their involvement in the activities of Pam, Steve and Mike. Jane enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, remodeling and decorating their homes. Boating on Lake Washington and camping were favorite family activities, especially digging clams at the ocean. When the Smith nest was emptied, Bob entered into a contract with his company for the installation of cooling and related equipment with McDonald's Hamburger Restaurants in Hawaii. Jane was very happy to live there for 5 years and enjoy the sun and Hawaiian lifestyle!

When Bob retired, they traveled all over the United States, Canada and Mexico in their motor home. At this time, they moved to Olympia where they purchased a home on the quiet shores of Eld Inlet in south Puget Sound. Their retirement location afforded them time to enjoy digging more clams! Wanting to enjoy sunnier weather in the winter, they joined the snowbird migration to warmer horizons finding sun and new friends in Borrego Springs, California.

After Bob passed away in 2000, Jane came back to Kirkland where her roots were the strongest, living in her waterfront condominium on Lake Washington Blvd.

As time progressed, she moved to Merrill Gardens, where she enjoyed living and meeting new friends for nearly four years until she recently moved to Abundance Love, an Adult Family Home. Upon Jane's return to Kirkland, she became a member of Rose Hill Presbyterian Church for the remaining years of her life.

Jane will be missed by those who survive her: daughter, Pam (husband, Walter H.) Milton, Helena, Montana; sons, Steve (wife, Patti) Smith, Kirkland, Washington and Mike (wife, Nancy) Smith, Woodinville, Washington.

Six grandchildren: Jennifer (husband, Mike) Goehring, Clancy, Montana; Jeff (wife, Robin) Milton, Olympia, Washington; Tiffany (husband, Terry) Beatty, Kirkland, Washington; Shay (wife, Katie) Spokane, Washington; Leslie Pamela (husband, Peter) Connelly, Issaquah, Washington and Joanna Smith, Seattle, Washington.

Eight Great Grandchildren: Henry and Elinor Jane Goehring, Jillian and Kelson Beatty, Shaelynn, Steele, and Sloane Smith and Freya Rose Connelly.

Good-bye to our Mother, Mother- in-Law, Grandmother, and Great "Gramma Jane"; we love you and know you are rejoicing in your Heavenly home for all eternity!

''Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.'' Psalm 116:15
