Irvin Joseph Baker, 80, of Kankakee, died Friday (Dec. 25, 1998) at his residence.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, L'Erable.

He was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Chatsworth, the son of Grover and Elizabeth Radin Baker.

Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine Burkmonus, whom he married Jan. 13,
1945, in Seattle, Wash.; one son and daughter-in-law, Steven A. and Marla Baker
of San Diego, Calif.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine E. and Paul
Willi of Macomb, Deborah A. and Tom Shirley of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and
Valerie R. and Fred Benoit of Merrionette Park; two brothers and sisters-in-law,
Paul and Marcella Baker, Grover, and Patricia Baker, all of Kankakee; one sister,
Della Imm of Tomahawk, Wis.; four grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and two
great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two sons, Terry J. Baker, who died in 1995, and Donald M. Baker died
in 1977; and one sister, Velma Simac, died in 1980.

Mr. Baker was a retired Farmers Insurance Group agent, retiring in 1988.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving from 1941-45. He enjoyed
woodworking, fishing, hunting, and gardening.
