NELSON BISHOP
Nelson Edward Bishop, son of Thomas H. and Anna Bishop
was born near Pleasant Dale
April 23, 1878, and died Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Veterans
Hospital in Lincoln. He was
86 years old. A lifetime resident of Seward and Lancaster
counties, he was a member
of the,school board, the Methodist church board, the elevator board, and cooperative
credit association while living on a farm near Pleasant
Dale.He served in the infantry in the Spanish-American War
from 1899 to 1901 in the Philippine Islands. He was a past
Commander of County Lewis No. 2 in Lincoln.
He was in Civil Service 20
years, 12 as a rural mail carrier at * Milford and 8 years
as Postmaster at Pleasar.t Dale. He moved to Lincoln in
1950. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in
Lincoln. Survivors include his wife,
Emma; a son, Wilmer, Lincoln; a daughter, Mrs. Bernadine Taplin, Salem, Ore.; a
sister, Mrs. Maud Bailey, Pleasant Dale; two brothers,
Rufus, Lincoln, and Ralph, -Torrington, Wyo.
