Mrs. Dorothy Simons, Severy, Kansas was
killed Wednesday, October 4, 1978 in a
farming accident in Elk County, four miles
southeast of Howard, Kansas.

An Elk County Sheriff official said Simons
fell from a tractor she was driving, then was
run over by the mower being towed by the
tractor.

She was born October 21, 1941, in Frankfort,
Kansas the daughter of Loren and Wilma
Picolet. She lived in Frankfort most of her
life until moving to Severy, Kansas a month
ago.

She attended the Frankfort public schools and
graduated from Frankfort High School.

She played the drums and was a vocalist for
six years for the Country Picks, a band in
Frankfort. She operated the JaDra Music
Store in Frankfort and played on a women's
softball team.

She married Jim Simons on March 28, 1959,
in Westmoreland, Kansas. He survives.

Other survivors include a son Russell Simons,
at home; two daughters, Anette Simons, of
the home and Mrs. Angelia Perry, Frankfort,
Kansas; her mother, Mrs. Wilma Picolet,
Frankfort, Kansas; five brothers, Dean Picolet,
McFarland, Kansas, Dale Picolet, St. Louis,
Missouri; Marvin Picolet and Jim Picolet,
both of Frankfort, Kansas, and Merle Picolet,
Lavonna Missouri; three sisters, Mrs. Betty
Keller, Riley, Kansas, Mrs. Darlene Nem-
echek, Frankfort, Kansas and Mrs. Judy
Fleeker, Manhattan, Kansas.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October
7,1978 at 2:00 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel
Frankfort, Kansas with Paul Plummer officiat-
ing.

Pallbearers were Hank Sisk, Willard Tilley,
Dannie Caffrey, Robert Shubkagel, Marvin
Seematter and Howard Hale.

Interment was in Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
