This little girl was originally buried in Section D, Grave 113 of Fort Brooke Military Cemetery in Santurce, Puerto Rico. On January 26, 1960 she was transferred to the Puerto Rico National Cemetery in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. She is buried at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Her father Juan and his wife Juana are buried together in the same section of the cemetery.

She was the daughter of Juan Cortéz and Petra Girán from Arecibo, Puerto Rico. They lived in Barrio La Perla in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Her paternal grandmother was Rosenda Cortéz from Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Her maternal grandparents were Rafael Girán from Camuy, Puerto Rico and Josefa Ocasio from Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

She was 11 months old.

Her father was a Sergeant in the United States Army. He served in the Spanish American War and in World War I and is listed as:
