Hopkins Physician,
Dies at Age of 86
Dr. D. A. Sargent, 86 years of age, who had lived in Hopkins the last sixty years died at 9:45 o'clock last night at his home. He fell several days ago and had broken his hip.
Dr. Sargent was born in 1854 in Ontario, Ind. He was married August 25, 1886, to Mary Donlin of near Hopkins. He graduated from the Medical College of Keokuk, Ia., and specialized in the setting of broken bones. He had lived in Hopkins since June 2, 1880, but had not been practicing the past five years since his health began to fail.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Lawrence D. Sargent of the home and J. S. Sargent of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Brown of Tarkio and Mrs. Edna Seewald of Burlington, Kan.; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchldren. One daughter, Lois, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Swanson funeral home with Rev. Paul Barton of the First Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in the Hopkins cemetery.
