Monday, April 3, 1944

Lewis William Coffey, son of the late George
and Anna Coffey, Tateville, Kentucky was
born on April 17, 1861. At the age of five
years he moved with his father to Cincinnati
Ohio, where he grew to manhood.On August
he was united in marriage to Miss Mary
Riddle of Cincinnati, and immediately
moved to Frankfort, Kansas.

To this union was born seven children, three
sons died in early childhood. He joined the
Holy M.E. Church at Frankfort in 1890.

His beloved wife preceded him in death in
1927. He has been a member of the Masonic
Lodge for over 58 years. In 1934, he moved
with his daughter, Mrs. Zephyr Carraway,
transferring his membership to St. Peter’s
Chapel, under the pastorate of Reverend
A.C. Bailey. He passed away on March 13,
1944 at 8:40 a.m.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Zephyr
Carraway of the home; Mrs. Clara Duvall,
Beloit, Kansas, Mrs. Rebecca Fouts, Frank-
fort, Kansas; a son, Theodore Coffey,
Kansas City, Kansas; eleven grandchildren;
a daughter-in-law Mrs. Lulu Coffey, Kansas
City, Kansas; a son-in-law Smith Fouts, of
Frankfort, Kansas.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. at
Oelkers Funeral Home.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
