Jacob Yoker was born about 1844 and was 18 years old when he enlisted in the 108th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry at Rochester, Monroe County, New York to serve three years. On August 1, 1862 he mustered in as a Private in Company ‘G'. He was a Private when he mustered out with the Company on May 28, 1865 at Baileys Crossroads, Virginia.

The 1880 Census shows that Jacob was a brick-mason. He was married to Mary _?_. The source (unk) lists "BAD" as their place of birth. They were probably both born in Germany if that is an abbreviation for Baden-Wurtenburg in Germany. Jacob and Mary had 5 children: Emmy (age 11-b. ca. 1869), Maggie (age 9-b. ca. 1871), Louis (age 7-b. ca. 1873), Louisa (age 5-b. ca. 1875), Andrew (age 3-b. ca. 1877) . The family resided in Rochester in 1880.

Jacob died September 15, 1912 at age 69 and is buried in Section N, Lot 57, Grave 1 North at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester. His marker is a county gravestone.
